Overview
The European Standard is based on DIN 14384 "Inductor proportioner PN 16 for foam compound" and was proposed by Germany as a European Standard. The inductor for foam concentrates is a fitting which forms part of the fire-fighting water conveyor component and is used to produce fire-extinguishing foam. Using the Venturi principle, the inductor sucks in the foam concentrate and induces it into a water flow to produce extinguishing water at a predetermined ratio. This European Standard does not contain requirements specifying the type of coupling to be connected to hoses as no European Standard dealing with the connection of fire fighting hoses currently exists. Orders for couplings are thus subject to individual agreement between parties. To ensure compatibility with all fire extinguishing components in Germany, DIN Storz couplings were assigned to the inductor proportioners in the National Foreword.
