Overview
The belt for positioning for firemen allows the emergency personnel of the fire brigade to protect themselves with the connection means (safety rope) by holding or withholding from the falling risk. The standard shall therefore be applied in line with the fire service regulations to securing fire brigade emergency personnel as well as securing and moving loads in application situations with the aid of the line for fire-brigades according to DIN 14920 "Lines for fire-brigades - Requirements, test methods, maintenance". DIN 14927 applies together with DIN EN 358 on "Personal protective equipment for work positioning and prevention of falls from a height - Belts and lanyards for work positioning or restraint" for belts for positioning for firemen, Type A and Type B, with 2-thorn-buckle. Their requirements and tests are specified by taking into account fire fighting specific emergency features. If the individual risk assessment during the application in connection with activities in upper floors leads to a concrete and acute danger for life and health, a self-rescue with the belt for positioning for firemen can come into question as an emergency measure. This shall then be carried out according to relevant fire fighting instruction regulations in the prescribed manner. The modification of the standard edition of September 2005 of DIN 14927 as a consolidated version of the standard has been mainly carried out since the previous restrictive, exclusively material specification on polyester was no longer up-to-date as other synthetic fibres can also fulfil the requested performance requirements. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 031-04-03 AA "Persönliche Schutzausrüstung für die Feuerwehr - SpA zu CEN/TC 158/WG 3" ("Personal protective equipment for fire fighters - mirror committee of CEN/TC 158/WG 3") at the DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW).
