DIN 14851
Ceiling hook
Einreißhaken
Overview
The standard is applicable to ceiling hooks for fire brigades which serve for tearing down, pushing in and pulling out structural components and other objects, and specifies their dimensions, designation, requirements and tests. Ceiling hooks consist of a hook and a continuously telescopable aluminium handle (telescopic handle). The telescopic handle can also be used as a device handle for other tools, and consists of an inner tube with a pivot pin for connection of the hook and an outer tube which can be adjusted for extension. The overall length of the hook including the pushed-together telescopic handle is 2 000 mm maximum for transport and can be extended to 3 000 mm minimum. By means of an optional extension, the overall length can be increased to 4 650 maximum, in order for it to be possible to carry out work on high ceilings. The amendment of the standard edition of November 1988 has become necessary in order to adapt the technical content to the state-of-the-art and to promote future developments. The following significant modifications have been made with respect to DIN 14851:1988-11: a) wood as material for the handle has been changed into aluminium handle and the requirements for the dimensions, materials, design and mass have been adopted accordingly; b) lengths have been reduced; c) telescopability has been introduced; d) standard designation has been changed; e) normative references have been adapted, DIN 7168-1 and DIN 68362 have been deleted and DIN 6335, DIN 6336, DIN 14640, DIN EN 573-3, DIN EN 10204, DIN EN 60243-1 (VDE 0303-21) and DIN ISO 2768-1 have been incorporated; f) content of the standard has been editorially revised. The committee responsible for this standard is Working Committee NA 031-04-09 AA "Sonstige Ausrüstung - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 5" ("Other equipment - Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 192/WG 5") at DIN.
