DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection

Overview

This standard is applicable for explosion-proof portable searchlights with associated mounting equipment for vehicles and specifies their requirements. Additionally, DIN 14642 contains instructions to be followed for explosion-proof portable searchlights and the associated mounting equipment for particular applications. This standard is intended to replace DIN 14642:2005-10. EC Directive 94/9/EC shall be considered for the design, testing and placing on the market of explosion-proof portable searchlights. This standard, as a product standard, is primarily directed at manufacturers of explosion-proof portable searchlights, but also supplies important information to users or buyers. The standard deals in particular with aspects of quality, occupational safety and product safety. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 031-02-02 AA "Elektrische Betriebsmittel" ("Electrical equipment") at DIN.
