DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection

Overview

Pick-up hoses type D according to DIN 14819 are especially used for picking up liquid extinguishing agents with inductor proportioners according to DIN 14384; they can be also used, however, for picking up other materials (for example, binding agents). The standard has been adapted to the state of the art, thus the following significant modifications have been made with regard to DIN 14819:1982-10: a) scope has been revised; b) term "pick-up hose type D" has been incorporated; c) information has been added about design possibilities of pick-up hoses type D, especially about the free end of the hose as a riser with inlet openings for extinguishing liquids or with a suction strainer with or without non-return valve; d) hose internal diameter d has been specified as DN 20; e) resistance requirements have been revised; f) information about the use, storage and periodic tests has been deleted; g) content has been editorially revised and revised with regard to standards, the DIN EN 1568 standard series has been incorporated, amongst others. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-04-04 AA "Schläuche und Armaturen" ("Hoses and hose fittings") of the FNFW.
