DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection
DIN 21916-3
Mine plans - Operational safety - Part 3: Fire prevention under the surface
Bergmännisches Risswerk - Betriebssicherheit - Teil 3: Brandschutz unter Tage
Overview
Every mining contractor is obligated to prepare a fire safety plan on the measures and methods for fire protection. Fire protection is of particular importance in hard coal mines where the produced raw material itself is combustible. The standard contains the symbols, terms and definitions and short forms necessary for fire prevention under the surface. This includes specifications for - fire fighting, mine rescue and first aid equipment, - fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers and extinguishing systems, - dangerous areas, - technical equipment and fuel hoses. The standard is based closely to DIN 21916-2 "Mine plants - Operational safety - Part 2: Fire prevention on the surface". A uniform illustration for fire protection in all mining-related fields is ensured therewith and a broad agreement with the illustrations of the general firefighting and fire protection is achieved. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 008-11-01-04 AK "Sonderdarstellungen" ("Special illustrations") of Working Committee "Mine-surveying" of FABERG.
