DIN EN 15889
Fire-fighting hoses - Test methods; German version EN 15889:2011
Feuerlöschschläuche - Prüfverfahren; Deutsche Fassung EN 15889:2011
Overview
The European Standard contains test methods, which have been taken slightly refined from the four current existing European Standards for fire-fighting hoses and summarized as a test standard in one document. This applies to the standards DIN EN 694:2007-07, DIN EN 1947:2007-07, DIN EN 14540:2007-07 and DIN EN ISO 14557:2008-01, which will in the future solely contain requirements. Thus, the European Standard is only to be used for European standardized fire-fighting hoses. This standard shall not be applied for fire-fighting hoses which are still currently nationally standardized (in Germany, the pressure hose according to DIN 14811). In addition to the test annexes taken from the European standards DIN EN 694:2007-07, DIN EN 1947:2007-07, DIN EN 14540:2007-07 and DIN EN ISO 14557:2008-01, tests were added which were intended for the former standardization project EN 1924 (Pressure hoses for pumps and fire fighting vehicles) (for example the pressure loss test). The previous European final draft prEN 1924 did not have the necessary majority at CEN during the formal voting in 2004. As a result, the European standardization project was cancelled, revised on a national level and published in modified form as DIN 14811. The European Standard has been prepared by Working Group CEN/TC 192/WG 1 "Fire-fighting hoses" (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom) of CEN/TC 192 "Fire service equipment" (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom). Working Committee NA 031-04-04 AA "Schläuche und Armaturen - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 1 und WG 8" ("Hoses and valves - Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 192/WG1 and WG 8") of FNFW realizes the collaboration of DIN through Working Group CEN/TC 192/WG 1 "Fire-fighting hoses".
