DIN 14826-2
Wheeled hose reels - Part 2: One-person-reel, dimensions, requirements
Fahrbare Schlauchhaspeln - Teil 2: Einpersonen-Haspel, Anschlussmaße, Anforderungen
Overview
The standard is applicable to wheeled hose reels of the fire brigade that can be operated by one person (one-person reel) and serve for transportation and routing of hose assemblies consisting of pressure hoses in accordance with DIN 14811. The reels can be carried along on suitable fire fighting vehicles by means of a mounting device. The base of the reel may also be suitable for incorporation of other fire fighting equipment, for instance hose mounts with cages for transport of hoses, equipment mounts for oil binding agent distributers and/or extinguishing equipment. It is not technically resolvable to standardize a one-person-reel such that all eventualities of all vehicle bodies and installation types are accounted for. Therefore, during the revision of the standard it was of utmost importance to design the standard such that it shall be possible to attach (mount) at least one standardized one-person-reel (EPH) centrally at the rear of every vehicle (of standardized fire fighting vehicles) and to be able to use in this instance all one-person-reels from different manufactures that comply with the standards. When more than one reel is attached at the rear of the vehicle these are no longer necessarily interchangeable as then vehicle- and reel-specific conditions are required to be adapted. As a result, the user is committed to a reel adapted to the vehicle. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN 14826-2:1999-01: a) contour dimensions and dimension 380 mm for the coupling device newly included in the reel side view; b) coupling device newly dimensioned in Figure 3; c) design of the coupling device modified to a coupling mass of 200 kg per reel; d) information regarding clearly visible attachment of the maximum coupling mass on the coupling devices and requirement for the complete foldability of the coupling arms included; e) requirements for the roll-up device and the colour scheme revised; f) requirements for additional attachments included; g) requirement for coupling device included so that the operator can clearly check the proper locking; h) content editorially revised and for that purpose, amongst others, the normative references DIN 14011-7, DIN 14811-1 and DIN 14829 deleted and DIN 14011 and DIN 14811 incorporated.
