Overview
This standard applies to manhole closures, referred to in the following as closures, of carbon steels, alloy and stainless steel, carbon and alloy steels with surface protection on pressure vessels. The closures are built onto equipment which predominantly serves process purposes. Other designs shall be agreed upon by the purchaser and manufacturer. The closures can be used for the operating conditions specified in Table 1 (according to DIN 28032, DIN 28034, or DIN EN 1092-1). A calculated verification may be necessary due to the construction and taking the operational conditions into account. As a rule the manhole closures are designed according to the apparatus flange system (DIN 28030-1). The nominal diameters DN 500 (PN 10 and PN 16) and DN 600 (PN 10) can also be designed according to the apparatus flange system (DIN EN 1092-1), possibly resulting in higher weights. It is generally possible to combine the closure components according to DIN 28124-2 and DIN 28124-3. (Example: nozzle from 1.4541 according to DIN 28124-2 with cover from P265GH and cladding from 1.4541, according to DIN 28124-3). The manhole closures are generally a component of a vessel. The manufacturers of these pressure vessels must fulfil the basic safety requirements of the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC (for instance according to the AD 2000 - Code of practice). The special conditions for access openings in accordance with the Gefahrstoffverordnung (GefStoffV) (Ordinance on Hazardous Substances) or the BGR 117-1 as well as AD 2000 - Code A5, including Attachment 1 are to be observed.
