DIN EN 10107
Grain-oriented electrical steel strip and sheet delivered in the fully processed state; German version EN 10107:2014
Kornorientiertes Elektroband und -blech im schlussgeglühten Zustand; Deutsche Fassung EN 10107:2014
Overview
Electrical steel strip (sheet) differs from other steel products in particular in its particular magnetic properties such as magnetic polarization, specific total loss and permeability (magnetizability of the material). Compared with non-grain-oriented electrical steel strip (sheet), the grain-oriented products show a uniform orientation of the grains (crystallographic texture) and have a nearly ideal texture in the fully processed state. This structure generates both specifically low total losses as well as high permeability values for and magnetic polarization. Due to these magnetic properties, grain-oriented electrical steel strip and sheet is used in small, distribution or power transformers. Compared with the previous version of EN 10107, the main modifications are as follows: addition of new steel grades, harmonization of magnetic properties and update of test requirements. The responsible German standardisation body is Gemeinschaftsausschuss 07 "Elektroblech" (Joint Working Group 07 "Electric steel strip") of DIN Standards Committee Iron and Steel (FES) and of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
