Overview
This document specifies requirements for the protective provisions relating to electrical safety in fixed installations associated with AC and/or DC traction systems and to any installations that can be endangered by the electric traction power supply system. It also applies to all aspects of fixed installations that are necessary to ensure electrical safety during maintenance work within electric traction power supply systems. This standard applies to all new lines and to all major revisions to existing lines for the following electric traction systems: railways; guided mass transport systems such as tramways, elevated and underground railways, mountain railways, trolleybus systems and magnetically levitated systems, as well as material transportation systems. This standard consolidates various substantive amendments into one overall document. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 351.2 "Ortsfeste Anlagen" ("Fixed installations") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
