Overview
This prestandard applies to cable distribution cabinets that are used for public power supply and are installed in generally accessible outdoor locations. These cable distribution cabinets shall meet the requirements of DIN EN 61439-5 (VDE 0660-600-5). The prestandard specifies envelope dimensions that allow the cable distribution cabinets to be replaced by different manufacturers, for example in wall recesses and fence alignments due to the low construction depth. By specifying the cabinet height with variable planting depths, it is possible to adapt the height to existing enclosures to a certain extent. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 431.1 "Niederspannungs-Schaltgerätekombinationen" ("Low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
