Einrichtungen für Audio/Video, Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik - Teil 1: Sicherheitsanforderungen (IEC 62368-1:2014, modifiziert + Cor.:2015); Deutsche Fassung EN 62368-1:2014 + AC:2015, Berichtigung zu DIN EN 62368-1 (VDE 0868-1):2016-05
Overview
This part of IEC 62368 applies to electrical and electronic equipment in the field of audio, video, information and telecommunication technology, including electrical office machines, for a rated voltage up to 600 V. IEC 62368-1 is based on the principle of hazard-oriented safety engineering. This is a different approach to the development and specification of safety considerations compared to existing standards. Although this standard is different from the traditional IEC safety standards and their approach, and although it is believed that IEC 62368-1 has a number of advantages, it is not the intention to introduce significant changes to the existing safety philosophy that led to the development of the safety requirements in IEC 60065 and IEC 60950-1 with its introduction and further development. The main reason for the creation of IEC 62368-1 is to simplify the problems caused by the convergence of ITE (IT Equipment) and CE (Consumer Equipment) technologies. The technologies are new, so a learning process is required and experience in their application is necessary. This Corrigendum, just as the standard, does not contain any requirements relating to the operational characteristics or functional properties of the equipment. The standard also applies to components and assemblies intended for installation in this equipment. However, it is not expected that such components and assemblies will meet the requirements of the standard in every respect, provided that the complete device meets the requirements when such components and assemblies are installed. The responsible committee is DKE/K 711 "Sicherheit elektronischer Einrichtungen für Audio/Video-, Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik" ("Safety of electronic equipment within the field of audio/video, information technology and communication technology") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
