Instrument transformers - Part 6: Additional general requirements for low-power instrument transformers (IEC 61869-6:2016); German version EN 61869-6:2016

Title (German)

Messwandler - Teil 6: Zusätzliche allgemeine Anforderungen für Kleinsignal-Messwandler (IEC 61869-6:2016); Deutsche Fassung EN 61869-6:2016

Overview

In addition to IEC 61869-1, this standard is another product family standard in the IEC 61869 series of standards. It contains additional general requirements for low-power instrument transformers consisting of an arrangement of one or more current or voltage sensor(s). These low-power instrument transformers can be connected to transmission systems and secondary converters intended for the transmission of an analog or digital information signal to measuring instruments, electricity meters, protective devices or control devices. They are used in alternating current applications with rated frequencies from 15 Hz to 100 Hz or in direct current applications. This product family standard is to be applied together with IEC 61869-1 in addition to the respective specific product standard. The description of the digital output format of the instrument transformers is not dealt with in this standard. The digital error is specified; the other characteristics of the digital interface for instrument transformers are standardized in IEC 61869-9 as an application of the horizontal series of standards IEC 61850, which considers the architecture of communication levels in substations in detail. In this standard additional requirements based on bandwidth are considered. The accuracy requirements for harmonics and the requirements for the anti-aliasing filter are specified in normative Annex 6A. Figure 1 below shows the general block diagram of a low-power instrument transformer. The technology used determines which parts are necessary for the realization of a low-power instrument transformer; that is, it is not absolutely necessary that all the parts described in Figure 1 can be found in an instrument transformer. The general block diagram can also be used for a single independent low-power sensor (low-power instrument transformer without active electronic components) if the blocks only consist of passive components and there is no power supply. The responsible committee is DKE/K 471 "Messwandler" ("Instrument transformers") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
