Photobiologische Sicherheit von Lampen und Lampensystemen - Beiblatt 3: Richtlinien für die sichere Anwendung von Geräten mit intensiven Pulslicht (IPL)-Quellen an Menschen (IEC/TR 62471-3:2015)
Overview
This Supplement is the unmodified national adoption of the Technical Report IEC/TR 62471-3:2015 "Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems - Part 3: Guidelines for the safe use of intense pulsed light source equipment on humans". This IEC publication has been prepared by TC 76 "Optical radiation safety and laser equipment". This Technical Report describes the possible side effects that can occur when using IPL devices and recommends measures to prevent them. Some of the incidents mentioned include serious side effects, ranging from cosmetically significant consequences to those that are physically or medically significant. Assuming that the operator of an IPL device is adequately trained and educated and the guidelines in this document are followed, the use of an IPL device in a cosmetic setting should be no more dangerous to the client or staff than comparable IPL procedures in a medical setting. The responsible committee is GK 841 "Optische Strahlungssicherheit und Lasereinrichtungen" ("Optical radiation safety and laser equipment") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
