DIN EN 60062
Marking codes for resistors and capacitors (IEC 60062:2016 + COR1:2016); German version EN 60062:2016 + AC:2016
Kennzeichnung von Widerständen und Kondensatoren (IEC 60062:2016 + COR1:2016); Deutsche Fassung EN 60062:2016 + AC:2016
Overview
This standard specifies designation and marking codes for capacitors and resistors. It provides coding methods for the resistance or capacitance value and its tolerance, including colour coding for resistors. It provides coding for parameters specific either to capacitors, such as the dielectric material, or to resistors, such as the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR). It also provides date code systems suitable for the marking of small components. The colour coding is applied in a sequence of individual whole colour bands. The first band shall have the smallest distance to the end of the resistor and the bands shall be applied in such a way and at such distances from each other that the marking is clearly legible. In order to avoid confusion the band used to mark the limit deviation shall be 1.5 to 2 times as wide as the other bands. Additional markings shall be affixed in such a way that the marking of nominal value and limit deviation cannot be confused. The colours black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, gray and white are used to identify the numbers 0 to 9 for each counting digit. Supplemented by the colours silver and gold, they are also used to identify the multiplier, the limiting deviation and the temperature coefficient of the resistance value (TCR). The colours with all assigned parameters and their corresponding values are summarized in a table. The responsible committee is DKE/GK 613 "Widerstände" ("Resistors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
