Determination of power losses in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations with line commutated converters (IEC 61803:1999 + A1:2010 + A2:2016); German version EN 61803:1999 + A1:2010 + A2:2016
Bestimmung der Leistungsverluste in Hochspannungsgleichstrom (HGÜ)-Stromrichterstationen mit netzgeführten Stromrichtern (IEC 61803:1999 + A1:2010 + A2:2016); Deutsche Fassung EN 61803:1999 + A1:2010 + A2:2016
Overview
This International Standard presents a set of standardized methods for determining the total losses of HVDC converter stations. It applies to all line-commutated high-voltage direct current (HVDC) converter stations used for power exchange in utility systems. The standard presumes the use of 12-pulse thyristor converters but can also be used for 6-pulse thyristor converters. Amendment 2 contains a few modifications to clarify individual issues and also the addition of an explanation of the basic concept of loss measurement in the new informative Annex D. The responsible committee is DKE/K 331 "Leistungselektronik" ("Power electronics") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
