Festkondensatoren zur Verwendung in Geräten der Elektronik - Teil 18: Rahmenspezifikation - Oberflächenmontierbare Aluminium-Elektrolyt-Kondensatoren mit festen (MnO₂) und flüssigen Elektrolyten (IEC 60384-18:2016); Deutsche Fassung EN 60384-18:2016
Overview
This standard applies to fixed aluminium electrolytic surface mount capacitors with solid (MnO2) and non-solid electrolyte primarily intended for d.c. applications for use in electronic equipment. These capacitors are primarily intended for use in electronic equipment to be mounted directly on substrates for hybrid circuits or to printed boards. Capacitors for special-purpose applications may need additional requirements. This standard specifies the preferred ratings and characteristics for the type of capacitors described, selects from IEC 60384-1 the appropriate quality evaluation procedures, tests, and measurement methods, and gives general requirements for operating performance. Test severities and requirements prescribed in detail specifications referring to this sectional specification should be of equal or higher performance level, because lower performance levels are not permitted. The applicable terms of IEC 60384-1 and other terms shall apply for application of this document. The capacitance of an electrolytic capacitor is the capacitance of a series equivalent circuit of capacitance and resistance measured with approximately sinusoidal AC voltage at the specified frequency. In quality conformity testing the formation of test lots for tests of groups A and B is carried out as follows. The tests shall be performed in batches. The manufacturer may compile test lots from the current production. It should be noted that the test lot shall consist of structurally similar capacitors. The sample to be tested shall represent the values and dimensions occurring in the test lot, according to their number and with at least 5 test specimens per value. If the sample contains less than 5 pieces of each value, then the sampling shall be agreed between the manufacturer and the certification body. Group C tests shall be performed periodically. The samples shall represent the current production of the specified periods and shall be divided into small, medium and large rated voltages. In order to cover the range of design approvals one case size from each voltage group shall be tested in each period. In further periods, other case sizes and/or rated voltages from current production are to be tested, so that ultimately the entire range is covered. The responsible committee is DKE/K 611 "Kondensatoren" ("Capacitors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
