Overview
Cables and wires intended for permanent installation in buildings are CE marked in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011 (Construction Products Regulation). The information on the respective Euroclass is provided by the manufacturer and shall be confirmed by a notified body. The requirements for the performance of the cables with regard to fire behavior as well as the corresponding test and assessment procedures are specified in DIN EN 50575 (VDE 0482 575), Power, control and communication cables - Cables for general applications in construction works subject to reaction to fire requirements. These fire protection requirements may deviate from those in the detail standards of the DIN VDE 0250 series (VDE 0250). The manufacturer selects the fire behavior class according to the foreseeable field of application. This prestandard lists the assignment of fire protection requirements for cables according to the DIN VDE 0250 (VDE 250) series that are intended for permanent installation. The responsible committee is UK 411.2 "Isolierte Starkstromleitungen" ("Insulated cables, wires and flexible cords for power installation") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
