Potentiometers for use in electronic equipment - Part 5: Sectional specification - Single-turn rotary low-power wirewound and nonwirewound potentiometers (IEC 60393-5:2015); German version EN 60393-5:2016
Potentiometer zur Verwendung in Geräten der Elektronik - Teil 5: Rahmenspezifikation - Niedrigbelastbare drahtgewickelte und nichtdrahtgewickelte Einfach-Drehpotentiometer (IEC 60393-5:2015); Deutsche Fassung EN 60393-5:2016
Overview
This standard applies to single-turn rotary low-power wirewound and non-wirewound potentiometers, with a rated dissipation less than 10 W. These potentiometers are primarily intended for use in electronic equipment. This part of IEC 60393 prescribes preferred ratings and characteristics and selects from IEC 60393-1, appropriate quality assessment procedures, tests and measuring methods. It provides general performance requirements for this type of potentiometer. This standard gives the minimum performance requirements and test severities. Detail specifications that refer to this sectional specification shall not specify requirements that are less stringent than those specified in the generic or sectional specification or in the form for the detail specification. If they contain more stringent requirements, these shall be listed in a clause of the detail specification and marked in the test plans, for example by an asterisk. The Preferred rated values, characteristics, and test severity clause establishes preferred characteristic values, preferred rated values, and preferred test severity levels. The Quality assessment procedures clause provides definitions and describes qualification approval, quality conformance testing, and delayed delivery. Normative Annex A describes leakage test procedures, in detail the housing leakage test only for types with sealed housing and the shaft and front plate seal test for all types. The responsible committee is DKE/GK 613 "Widerstände" ("Resistors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
