Overview
This standard incorporates the text of International Publication IEC 60335-2-103:2006 + A1:2010, adopted by CENELEC with amendments as a European Standard. The common European amendments transfer the IEC requirements of Clause 20 "Stability and mechanical hazards" to Annexes ZAA "Drives for windows", ZBB "Stability and mechanical safety for drives of automatic door systems for passenger traffic" and ZCC "Drives for doors, garage doors and gates". The International Standard deals with the safety of electric drives for horizontally and vertically moving gates, doors and windows for household and similar purposes. The rated voltage does not exceed 250 V for single-phase drives and 480 V for other drives. It also covers the hazards associated with the movement of gates, doors, garage doors, and windows. Battery-operated drives and other drives powered by direct current are within the scope of this standard. Drives that are part of power-operated doors, gates, windows, and garage doors intended for use by trained personnel in stores, commercial establishments, and agricultural operations are also within the scope of this standard. The scope of this standard includes, for example, drives for folding doors, revolving doors, roll-up doors, skylights, multi-part overhead doors, swing and sliding doors and gates. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 511.11 "Motorische Geräte" ("Motor-driven devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
