Fixed capacitors for use in electronic equipment - Part 25: Sectional specification - Surface mount fixed aluminium electrolytic capacitors with conductive polymer solid electrolyte (IEC 60384-25:2015); German version EN 60384-25:2015

Title (German)

Festkondensatoren zur Verwendung in Geräten der Elektronik - Teil 25: Rahmenspezifikation - Oberflächenmontierbare Aluminium-Elektrolyt-Kondensatoren mit leitfähigem Polymerfestkörper-Elektrolyten (IEC 60384-25:2015); Deutsche Fassung EN 60384-25:2015

Overview

This part of the IEC 60384 series of standards applies to fixed aluminium electrolytic surface mount capacitors with conductive polymer solid electrolyte, primarily intended for d.c. applications for use in electronic equipment. These capacitors are primarily intended for use in electronic equipment to be mounted directly on substrates for hybrid circuits or to printed boards. This standard specifies the preferred ratings and characteristics for the type of capacitors described, selects from IEC 60384-1 the appropriate quality evaluation procedures, tests and measurement methods, and gives general requirements for operating performance. In design specifications referencing this sectional specification, the severity levels of tests and requirements shall be at least those specified in this specification; weaker ones shall not be permitted. Fixed aluminium electrolytic surface mount capacitors with solid (MnO2 ) are not included but are covered by IEC 60384-18. Capacitors for special-purpose applications may need additional requirements. The marking of the capacitors and the packaging contains the following information, the relative importance corresponds to the ranking order. These are the polarity of the terminals (if it is not apparent from the construction), the rated voltage, the rated capacitance, the category temperature, limit deviation of the rated capacitance, year and month (or year and week) of manufacture, the manufacturer's name and/or logo, the manufacturer's model designation and the reference to the detail specification. Capacitors shall be marked with the polarity of the terminals. Other information shall be applied as required. Marking shall be legible and not easily smeared or removed by rubbing with the finger. The chapter Preferred ratings and characteristics names preferred characteristics and preferred ratings, supplemented by a table on surge voltages, which is defined as 1,15 times the rated voltage. The chapter Quality assessment procedures covers the primary stage of manufacture, structurally similar components, certified test records of released lots and qualification approval, supplemented by tables showing the sampling plan for qualification approval - assessment level EZ and the test plan for qualification approval. The chapter Quality conformance inspections covers the topics of formation of inspection lots and inspection plan, delayed delivery and assessment levels and is supplemented by the Tables Lot-by-lot inspection and Periodic inspection. The chapter on Test and measurement procedures supplements the information in IEC 60384-1, Clause 4. Covered are pre-drying, measurement conditions, assembly, visual inspection and dimensional control, electrical testing, resistance to soldering heat and solderability, shear test, and substrate bending test. Other topics include rapid change of temperature, climatic test sequence, damp heat constant, characteristics at high and low temperature, surge voltage, endurance testing, solvent resistance, and storage at high temperature. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: a) Revision of the structure in accordance with ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2:2011 (sixth edition) to the extent practicable, and harmonization between other similar kinds of documents; b) In addition, Clause 4 and all the tables have been reviewed in order to prevent duplications and contradictions. The responsible committee is DKE/K 611 "Kondensatoren" ("Capacitors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
