Overview

This standard applies to travel plug adapters only for alternating current with and without protective contact, with and without shutter and with and without protective device. This standard does not apply to travel adapters for use in conjunction with foreign devices. Due to the special transportable conditions, deviating socket types can be used. Transfer to other standards is not permitted. Travel plug adapters within the meaning of this standard are devices for use abroad (consisting of plugs for plugging into sockets according to different country-specific standards in a functional unit with a socket for inserting a plug according to DIN 49406, DIN 49441, DIN 49464, or DIN VDE 0620-101 (VDE 0620-101)). This standard amends or supplements the relevant clauses of DIN VDE 0620-2-1 (VDE 0620-2-1):2016-01, Plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar purposes - Part 2-1: General requirements on plugs and portable socket-outlets, and should be read in conjunction with it. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 542.1 "Schalter und Steckvorrichtungen für den Hausgebrauch und ähnliche Zwecke" ("Switches and plug/socket connections for household and similar use") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
