DIN EN 54-7
Fire detection and fire alarm systems - Part 7: Smoke detectors - Point smoke detectors that operate using scattered light, transmitted light or ionization; German version EN 54-7:2018
Brandmeldeanlagen - Teil 7: Rauchmelder - Punktförmige Rauchmelder nach dem Streulicht-, Durchlicht- oder Ionisationsprinzip; Deutsche Fassung EN 54-7:2018
Overview
This European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 72 "Fire detection and fire alarm systems" (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom) and supervised at the national level by Working Group NA 031-02-01 AA "Brandmelde- und Feueralarmanlagen" ("Fire detection and fire alarm systems") of FNFW. The system requirements and technical application rules are specified in DIN 14675 and DIN VDE 0833-2 (VDE 0833-2). Certification of conformity of smoke detectors with the device requirements of this standard is governed by the assessment of conformity of the products by "Notified Bodies" according to the EU Construction Products Directive (see Annex ZA) and the corresponding provisions of the Construction Products Law. This European Standard specifies requirements, test methods and performance criteria for point smoke detectors that operate using scattered light, transmitted light or ionization, intended for use in fire detection and fire alarm systems installed in and around buildings (see EN 54-1:1996). This European Standard covers point smoke detectors with more than one smoke sensor operating according to this principle, additional requirements and test methods for such detectors are given in Annex N. For other types of smoke detector, or smoke detectors working on different principles, this standard should only be used for guidance. Smoke detectors with special characteristics and developed for specific risks are not covered by this standard. Certain types of detector contain radioactive materials. The national requirements for protection against ionizing radiation differ from country to country and they are not specified in this standard.
