Overview
This International Standard specifies requirements for electrical type and production testing of self-commutated converter valves for use in a voltage-commutated three-phase converter bridge for high voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) or as part of a close coupling. The standard can also be used as a guide for testing STATCOM valves. The tests described in this standard apply to air-insulated valves. The test requirements and acceptance criteria for other valve types shall be agreed between supplier and customer. This amendment extends the scope of the standard to include electrical type and production tests for dynamic brake valves used in certain HVDC overvoltage limitation projects. The responsible committee is K 331 "Leistungselektronik" ("Power electronics") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
