Overview
International Standard IEC 62504 is of assistance in the common understanding of terms and definitions, relevant for general lighting with LED technology. The terms included are those already available in IEC LED standards or used in manufacturers' literature. The terms in this standard generally involve descriptive terms such as "LED light source" and terms for measurement/qualification of LED properties when deviating and modified from IEC 60050-845. Annex A of this standard provides an overview of the different designs of LED packages and systems comprised of LED light sources and control gear. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/K 521 "Leuchten, Lampen und Zubehör" ("Luminaires, lamps and related equipment") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
