DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE

Overview

The future standard DIN EN 12895 deals with industrial trucks regardless of their power source and their electrical/electronic systems. Their scope of application may be residential, commercial and industrial. The standard defines requirements and limits for electromagnetic emissions and immunity to external electromagnetic fields. It also lays down test procedures and criteria for industrial trucks and their electrical/electronic systems. However, the future standard cannot be applied to non-stacking low-lift straddle carriers, stacking high-lift straddle carriers or hand-operated industrial trucks other than those equipped with electrically operated lifting equipment. Even industrial trucks with a maximum speed of over 30 km/h intended for use in public areas will not be covered by the future standard. This also applies to positioning systems for driverless industrial trucks. Interactions between the systems on industrial trucks and interference with radio systems in industrial trucks are also not within the scope of application. Equipment that is connected to the mains and only works when the industrial truck is not in operation (for example, onboard charger) is also not covered by the standard. For industrial trucks intended for use in public areas, other specific European Directives and national requirements shall apply. The responsible committee is K 352 "Elektrische Ausrüstung von Flurförderzeugen" ("Electrical equipment of industrial trucks") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
