Title (German)

Explosionsgefährdete Bereiche - Teil 1: Geräteschutz durch druckfeste Kapselung "d" (IEC 60079-1:2014); Deutsche Fassung EN 60079-1:2014

Overview

This part of VDE 0170 contains specific requirements for the construction and testing of electrical equipment with the type of protection flameproof enclosure "d" intended for use in explosive gas atmospheres. This standard supplements and modifies the general requirements of DIN EN 60079-0 (VDE 0170-1). Where a requirement of this standard conflicts with a requirement of DIN EN 60079-0 (VDE 0170-1) the requirement of this standard will take precedence. This edition is a technical revision in which the following key points are newly included: - supplemental mechanical means of securement for cemented joints; - material limitation in acetylene atmospheres; - load requirements for arc-quenching test, plugs and sockets and cable couplers, have been changed; - additional ex component enclosure requirements with respect to DIN EN 60079-0 (VDE 0170-1) have been added; - removal of Type T cells in the indicated primary cells. The responsible committee is DKE/K 241 "Schlagwetter- und explosionsgeschützte elektrische Betriebsmittel" ("Electrical apparatus for potentially explosive atmospheres") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
