Overview
This standard deals with the safety of electric toys with at least one electricity dependent function. It also applies to electrical construction kits, electric functional toys, video toys and electrical experiment kits. A toy is any product which is, whether exclusively or not, designed or clearly intended to be used in play by children under the age of 14. By incorporating EN 62115:2005/A2:2011, Clauses 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 ,7, 8, 9, 14, 16 and 18 as well as Annex B and the Bibliography of EN 62115:2005 are modified, replaced or supplemented. By also incorporating EN 62115:2005/A11:2012, Clauses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 ,7, 9, 14, 16, 18 and 20 as well as the bibliography and Annex ZZ of EN 62115:2005 are modified and the new Annex ZB is added to cover essential requirements of EU Directive 2009/48/EC on the safety of toys. Furthermore, an informative Annex ZZB "Background and justification for this European Standard" has been added. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 511.12 "Lehrgeräte und Spielzeuge" ("Educational appliances and toys") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
