Overview
This standard contains the text of the international publication IEC 60335-2-72:2012 which has been adopted by CENELEC as a European standard including agreed common modifications. The standard has been fundamentally revised and updated according to the state of the art. In particular, modifications have been made to Clauses 7, 15, 22 and 25. Annexes DD "Noise measurements" and EE "Vibration measurements" have been added. This standard applies to the safety of power operated ride-on and walk-behind machines intended for commercial use in the following indoor and outdoor applications: - sweeping; - scrubbing/scouring; - wet or dry pick-up; - polishing; - application of wax, sealing agents and powdered cleaning agents; - shampooing of floors with an artificially created surface. Contrary to the machines according to EN 60335-2-67, the cleaning movement of these machines is rather linear than lateral or periodical. The machines may be equipped with a traction drive. The following drive systems are covered: - internal combustion engines; - mains operated engines with a rated voltage up to 250 V for single-phase units and 480 V for other units; - battery operated engines. Battery operated machines may be equipped with an integrated battery charger. The above mentioned floor treatment machines are used in applications other than usual household applications, for example in hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, shops, supermarkets and offices. The responsible committee is UK 511.14 "Gewerbliche Bodenreinigungsmaschinen" ("Commercial floor cleaning machines") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
