Determination of certain substances in electrotechnical products - Part 4: Mercury in polymers, metals and electronics by CV-AAS, CV-AFS, ICP-OES and ICP-MS (IEC 62321-4:2013); German version EN 62321-4:2014
Verfahren zur Bestimmung von bestimmten Substanzen in Produkten der Elektrotechnik - Teil 4: Quecksilber in Polymeren, Metallen und Elektronik mit CV-AAS, CV-AFS, ICP-OES und ICP-MS (IEC 62321-4:2013); Deutsche Fassung EN 62321-4:2014
Overview
The International standard series IEC 62321 provides the electrotechnical industry with test methods which allow determination of the concentration of particular substances of concern contained in electrotechnical products on a globally consistent basis. This Part 4 describes test methods for mercury in polymers, metals and alloys as well as electronics using CV-AAS (cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry) CV-AFS (cold vapour atomic fluorescence spectrometry), or ICP-OES (inductively coupled plasma/optical emission spectrometry) and ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma/mass spectrometry). Analysis by means of CV-AAS, CV-AFS, ICP-OES or ICP-MS enables determination of the target element mercury with high precision (and very low uncertainty) and/or high sensitivity (in case of very low concentrations). In addition to the methods of analysis mentioned above, this standard describes several sample solution preparation methods. Persons using this International Standard should be familiar with normal laboratory practice. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety problems associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to ensure compliance with any national regulatory conditions. The responsible committee is DKE/K 135 "Erfassung von Stoffen in Produkten der Elektrotechnik" ("Determination of substances in products of the electrotechnical industry") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
