Three phase dry-type distribution transformers 50 Hz, from 100 kVA to 3 150 kVA, with highest voltage for equipment not exceeding 36 kV - Part 2: Determination of loadability of a transformer loaded with non-sinusoidal current; German version EN 50541-2:2013

Overview

This document gives the user guidance to determine the loading capacity of a three phase dry-type distribution transformer, as defined in EN 50541-2, in the case of load current with harmonic factors exceeding the maximum values. When analysing the loading capacity of standard transformers by means of non-sinusoidal currents, design features such as the configuration and type of winding have a great influence on the performance. The equations given in this document are intended to provide assistance in the selection of the most suitable loadability of a transformer taken from a series of standard transformers in order to ensure sufficient operational safety. In cases where a more accurate calculation is required, the manufacturer should be asked for support. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 321.2 "Transformatoren, Leistungen und Abmessungen" ("Transformers, performances and dimensions") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
