Coaxial cables - Part 2-1: Sectional specification for cables used in cabled distribution networks - Indoor drop cables for systems operating at 5 MHz - 1 000 MHz; German version EN 50117-2-1:2005 + A1:2008 + A2:2013
Koaxialkabel - Teil 2-1: Rahmenspezifikation für Kabel für Kabelverteilanlagen - Hausinstallationskabel im Bereich von 5 MHz - 1 000 MHz; Deutsche Fassung EN 50117-2-1:2005 + A1:2008 + A2:2013
Overview
This standard specifies the general requirements for testing the electrical, mechanical and climatic characteristics of coaxial cables, suitable for use in a wide range of analogue and digital systems. This includes broadband networks (CATV), radio frequency systems, and general signal processing, broadcasting, as well as telecommunications and data network systems. Various constructions and materials provide for indoor and outdoor applications, including underground installations, and cables with suspension cable and cables with other environmental protection characteristics. Generally, cables in accordance to this standard are designed for use in 50 Ohm and 75 Ohm characteristic impedance systems; although cables of other systems (such as 93/95 Ohm) are also covered by this standard. In respect to the previous version of this standard, the changes refer to the clause regarding the fire performance test methods. The responsible body is DKE/K 412.3 "Koaxialkabel - und leitungen" ("Coaxial cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
