Fire hazard testing - Part 2-10: Glowing/hot-wire based test methods - Glow-wire apparatus and common test procedure (IEC 60695-2-10:2013); German version EN 60695-2-10:2013
Prüfungen zur Beurteilung der Brandgefahr - Teil 2-10: Prüfverfahren mit dem Glühdraht - Glühdrahtprüfeinrichtung und allgemeines Prüfverfahren (IEC 60695-2-10:2013); Deutsche Fassung EN 60695-2-10:2013
Overview
DIN EN 60695-2-10 specifies the glow-wire apparatus and common test procedure to simulate the effects of thermal stresses which may be produced by heat sources such as glowing elements or overloaded resistors, for short periods, in order to assess the fire hazard by a simulation technique. The test procedure described here is a common test procedure intended for the small-scale tests in which a standardized electrically heated wire is used as a source of ignition. It is a common part of the test procedures applied to end products and to solid electrical insulating materials or other solid combustible materials. The standard shall be used in conjunction with the parts 60695-2-11, 60695-2-12 and 60695-2-13; detailed descriptions of the test procedures of these groups are given there. IEC 60695-2-10 is a basic safety standard in accordance with the principles of IEC Guide 194 and ISO/IEC Guide 51, and wherever possible, it is the responsibility of the Technical Committees to adopt basic safety standards when preparing the respective standards. Therefore, the requirements of this basic safety standard apply only, if they are contained or quoted in directly applicable standards. The responsible body is DKE/K 133 "Prüfverfahren zur Beurteilung der Brandgefahr von elektrotechnischen Produkten und Isolierstoffen" ("Test methods for assessing the fire hazard of electrotechnical products and insulating materials") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
