Overview
This part of IEC 60747 specifies the terminology, essential ratings and characteristics, and measuring methods of microwave integrated circuit oscillators. This standard is applicable to fixed and voltage-controlled semiconductor microwave oscillator devices, except the oscillator modules such as synthesizers which require external controllers. This document is not applicable to quartz crystal controlled oscillators; they are specified by IEC 60679-1. The type designation (name of the component), the circuit category and the technology used shall be indicated since they belong to the core design values and characteristics. Microwave oscillators are divided into two categories, type A, the fixed oscillator and type B, the voltage-controlled oscillator. A general description of the function of the integrated microwave oscillators and the application features shall be given. The production technology such as monolithic semiconductor integrated circuit, integrated thin-film circuit, micro-assembly, etcetera, shall be indicated. This information shall include details of the semiconductor technology, such as Schottky diode, MESFET, Si-bipolar transistor, etcetera. With regard to the terminology and symbols, essential ratings and characteristics as well as the methods of measurement of such microwave devices, reference shall be made to the IEC 60747-4. For information on the enclosure, the chip or housing form, IEC and/or national reference number of the outline drawing or a drawing of a non-standardized housing including the terminal numbering and the main material of the housing, for example, metal, ceramics, plastics, are required. It should be stated whether the integrated circuit corresponds to an application system and/or an interface standard or recommendation. Details on application systems, devices and circuits, such as VSAT-("Very Small Aperture Terminal"-) systems, BS-("Broadcasting Satellite"-) recipients, microwave landing systems, etcetera, should also be indicated. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 631.1 "Einzel-Halbleiterbauelemente" ("Discrete semiconductor devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
