Overview
This standard is applicable in conjunction with DIN EN 60670-1 (VDE 0606-1):2005-10 and the relevant detail standard for surface-mounted casings for installation on the mounting area. Surface-mounted casings consist of a box and an application-specific lid and serve for the accommodation of electrical apparatus, such as switch inserts, socket-outlet inserts and connection terminals. The connection cables leading out of the casing are sealed and strain-relieved with commercially available cable glands. The surface-mounted casings are used indoors and outdoors on vessels and are based on two square-shaped basic types which are mountable side by side in all directions and only differ by the arrangement of their mounting holes, internal or external. The basic types already provide more termination space than the predominantly used round junction box ("HNA junction box") in accordance with DIN 89250 made of brass. Depending on the application and the installation location, the materials used are metals or plastics. This standard specifies the basic types with the internal and external dimensions. Furthermore, it contains technical requirements that shall be met by way of derogation or in addition to the specifications contained in DIN EN 60670-1 (VDE 0606-1):2005-10 for the application on vessels and in the military sector. The informative annex shows how casings with a considerable volume, in which there is also space for extensive device inserts and junctions, can be generated by combination of the basic types. This standard has been prepared by NA 132-03-52 AA "Installationsmaterial" ("Installation material") at DIN e. V.
