DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE

Overview

This International Standard specifies the text-to-speech functionality for a (broadcast) receiver with a text-to-speech system. Such a system may be one device, for example a receiver with an integrated text-to-speech generator, or may be two devices, for example a receiver interfacing with an external text-to-speech device. This International Standard applies only to completely functional stationary (or semi-stationary) digital TV receivers such as set top boxes, integrated digital TVs, recorders and other products whose primary function is to receive TV content. This International Standard does not apply to products whose secondary function is to be able to receive TV content (for example personal computers or game consoles with digital TV receivers). This does also not apply to assemblies (for example PC tuner cards). The responsible committee is DKE/K 742 "Audio-, Video- und Multimediasysteme, -geräte und -komponenten" ("Audio, video and multimedia systems, equipment and components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
