DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE

Overview

This International Standard is applicable for wire terminations of capacitors and resistors for use in electronic equipment and specifies a series of preferred diameters of the finished wire terminations of capacitors and resistors. Clause 2 of the standard includes a table for the preferred diameters of wire terminations. Along with the nominal diameter, the minimum and maximum diameters are also given, each in mm. The nominal and mean diameter of the actual wire terminations may deviate from the listed nominal diameters when the actual diameter, including its tolerance, is within the range specified by the minimum and maximum diameters. For this purpose, the specified nominal diameters for the wire terminations of final products apply. The diameter of the supplied wire termination material may deviate from the recommended values, as each processing of the wire material has an effect on the diameter of the wire termination in advance of its assessment. Informative Annex A of the standard includes a table of wire diameters in inches containing the comparable typical wire diameters from the traditional imperial measurement system contained in previous editions of this standard. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN IEC 60301:1985-12: - employment of SI units only in the normative part of this standard, causing transfer of all imperial dimensions from Table 1 to the informative Annex A; - addition of two smaller diameters of wire terminations in Table 1; - tightening of the tolerance ranges defined by minimum and maximum diameters in Table 1. The responsible committee is GK 613 "Widerstände" ("Resistors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
