Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) - Part 4-25: Testing and measurement techniques - HEMP immunity test methods for equipment and systems (IEC 61000-4-25:2001 + A1:2012); German version EN 61000-4-25:2002 + A1:2012
Elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit (EMV) - Teil 4-25: Prüf- und Messverfahren - Prüfung der Störfestigkeit von Einrichtungen und Systemen gegen HEMP-Störgrößen (IEC 61000-4-25:2001 + A1:2012); Deutsche Fassung EN 61000-4-25:2002 + A1:2012
Overview
This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN 61000-4-25:2002 with incorporated Amendment A1:2012. It is identical to the International Standard IEC 61000-4-25:2001 and its Amendment A1:2012. It contains specifications for HEMP immunity test methods for equipment and systems and shall determine their immunity when they are subjected to conducted and radiated HEMP disturbances. High-frequency pulse-shaped interferences of this nature may develop as a result of a nuclear event taking place in high altitudes if it is impossible to prevent this catastrophic event. Thus the standard has some importance for protection of the infrastructure. It defines ranges of test levels and establishes test procedures for determination of immunity against transient conducted and radiated disturbances. Specifications for test equipment and instrumentation test set-up, test procedures, pass/fail criteria, and test documentation requirements are also contained in this standard. With respect to the previous standard, amendments which have occurred due to the publication of IEC 61000-4-33 were made describing methods for measurement of high-performance transient electromagnetic disturbances. Furthermore the previous reference to IEC 61000-4-12 has been replaced by a reference to IEC 61000-4-18 which in the meantime has adopted the specifications for HEMP immunity test methods. The responsible committee is UK 767.3 "Hochfrequente Störgrößen" ("High frequency disturbances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
