Overview
This standard deals with the safety of electrically operated commercial boiling pans. These appliances are not intended for household use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances connected between one phase and neutral, and 480 V for other appliances. These appliances are used in restaurants, canteens, hospitals and in commercial enterprises such as bakeries and butcher's shops. By Amendment A11:2012 incorporated into the European Standard EN 60335-2-47:2003+A1:2008, commercial appliances or machines with motor-operated, movable parts have been adapted to the essential requirements of EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The additional requirements are given in Annex ZE. The responsible committee is UK 511.8 "Großküchengeräte" ("Equipment for commercial kitchens") at the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
