Overview
This part of IEC 61988 determines measuring methods for characterizing the performance of plasma display modules in the field of noise emission. Audible noise is generated by, for example, the driving of plasma display modules and is caused by the vibrations of panel, electric components, wirings and circuits. The noise emission depends on the image displayed, module (panel) temperature, environmental pressure and surrounding mechanical (acoustic) conditions. The responsible committee is K 742 "Audio-, Video- und Multimediasysteme, -geräte und -komponenten" ("Audio, video and multimedia systems, equipment and components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
