Overview
This standard specifies test methods for enclosures for assessment of their fire resistance, while the integrity of the cable is maintained for a defined time in case of fire. The enclosures, together with cables with integrity, shall be fire resistant for use in a fire-resistant power line system. The standard determines the duration for which the enclosure provides protection for the termination of cables with circuit integrity if it is subjected to fire for a specified duration. The test method is based on the exposition under the standard temperature/time curve according to DIN EN 1363-1. The test is carried out using cables and fixing systems with circuit integrity. The responsible committee is UK 543.4 "Verlegungs- und Verbindungsmaterial" ("Connecting and wiring material") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
