Overview
This standard specifies the tests and measurements and the associated measurement set-up and reference arrangements for testing the reliability and backward compatibility of 8-way fixed and free connectors according to the IEC 60603-7 series for data transmission with frequencies up to 500 MHz. The described test methods concern insertion loss, return loss, near end crosstalk (NEXT), far end crosstalk (FEXT), transverse conversion loss (TCL) and transverse conversion transfer loss (TCTL). The standard is also suitable for testing lower frequency connectors if they meet the requirements of the detail specifications and of this standard. The responsible committee is K 651 "Steckverbinder" ("Connector") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
