Overview
This specification contains the initial, start of life dimensional, mechanical and environmental performance requirements which an unprotected microduct must meet. It does not address the installation capability of these products, which must be agreed between the user and supplier. Microducts are laid for high-speed internet in access networks that reach up to the end-user. Their quality, as well as the quality of the associated sleeves and distributors, significantly determines the performance of the integrated optical fibre cabling. The test standards have been taken from the cable test standards of the IEC 60793 series and IEC 60794. The standard aids manufacturers and customers in definition of quality. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 412.2 "Komponenten für Kommunikationskabelanlagen" ("Components for communication cable installations") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
