Overview
This Technical Report provides information on aspects for safe communication, such as reference test apparatus, verification of increased immunity (EMC for functional safety), electrical safety and other environmental requirements. It can only be applied for safety devices with functional safe communication which have been developed in accordance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61784-3. The scope extends from general industrial environments as defined in IEC 61131-2 or IEC 61000-6-2 and via industrial process control environments as defined in the IEC 61326 series. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 914.1 "Profile für funktional sichere Kommunikationssysteme" ("Profiles for functionally safe communication systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
