Overview
The purpose of this test is to determine the ability of the cable attachment of a component to withstand torsional loads, while under tension, as might be experienced during installation and normal service. The scope of the test also includes those cable attachments designed for ribbon cables. The standard provides manufacturers and test laboratories with security regarding the definition of the test and serves as a reference for quality assurance. The products of the IEC 61754 standard series are used together with the standards of the series IEC 61755 (Optical interface) and IEC 61753 (performance standard) and are tested by standards of the series IEC 61300 (Basic test and measurement procedures). The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 412.7 "LWL-Verbindungstechnik und passive optische Komponenten" ("Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
