DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE

Overview

The standards of the DIN EN 50174 series specify requirements for the specification phase, planning phase, realization phase and operation phase of information technology cabling systems which apply for both generic cabling systems (see standards of the DIN EN 50173 series) as well as application-specific cabling systems (see, for example, standards of the DIN EN 50098 series). DIN EN 50174-1 (VDE 0800-174-1) contains specifications which shall be followed during the specification phase and the operation of a cabling system. This standard is primarily directed at designers and builders of information technology cabling so that especially the electrical trade will feel addressed. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 50174-1 (VDE 0800-174-1):2009-09: a) incorporation of the normative Annex E on sampling plans and marginal results; b) simplified administration requirements (subclause 4.5.2); c) simplified complexity installation and operational levels (subclause 6.2); d) simplified minimum requirements for technical specifications and quality plans (Annex A); e) technical and editorial changes to clauses 4 and 5. The responsible Subcommittee is Joint Subcommittee GUK 715.3 "Informationstechnische Verkabelung von Gebäudekomplexen" ("Customer premises cabling") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
