Overview
DIN VDE 0641-21 (VDE 0641-21) applies to selective air-break main circuit breakers (hereinafter called SMCBs), for operation at 50/60 Hz, having a rated voltage not exceeding 440 V (between the line conductors), a rated current not exceeding 125 A and rated short-circuit capacity not exceeding 50 000 A. Such SMCBs are intended for overcurrent protection of cables installed in buildings and for similar purposes. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 541.2 "Kleine Selbstschalter" ("Miniature circuit-breakers") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
