Overview
This standard deals with the safety of microwave ovens which are intended for commercial use, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V between one phase and the neutral conductor and 480 V for other appliances. The main focus of the amendment are requirements in order to also use the devices safely on vessels. Furthermore, the requirements for door fittings have been revised and functional safety of the door latch has been taken into account. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 511.2 "Herde und Mikrowellengeräte" ("Cooking ranges and microwave ovens") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
