DIN EN 50160
Voltage characteristics of electricity supplied by public distribution networks; German version EN 50160:2010 + Cor. :2010
Merkmale der Spannung in öffentlichen Elektrizitätsversorgungsnetzen; Deutsche Fassung EN 50160:2010 + Cor. :2010
Overview
This standard contains the German version of the European Standard EN 50160:2010 with information about the voltage characteristics in public low, medium and high voltage distribution networks. Thus, the following characteristics are considered: voltage level and voltage frequency, slow and fast voltage changes as well as flickers, dips and short and long interruptions of voltage, temporary supply-frequency overvoltage as well as transient overvoltage between the outer conductor and the ground, voltage asymmetry, harmonics, interharmonic and network signal transmission voltages on the supply voltage, whereby values could not be provided for all characteristics. The values given apply for the normal operation of the respective networks and not for operating conditions which deviate from the normal operating conditions, such as temporary supply measures and exceptional situations. They serve thus not as values for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and not for specification of requirements in product standards and are also not intended to be used for specifications of requirements in product standards or in installation standards. The performance of a (connected) device can become impaired if the latter is exposed to supply conditions which are not taken into account in the product standard for the device. In respect its previous edition, the standard has been restructured, whereby the individual phenomena are sub-divided in lasting phenomena and in voltage events. Furthermore, information for high-voltage networks has been incorporated by adding a new clause 6, whereby limit values for harmonics and voltage asymmetry are given merely as reference values as currently new overview measurements are carried out in several European states and the essential results of these measurements are still anticipated before the specification of limit values is taken into consideration. Furthermore, information about voltage overshoots for low and medium voltage networks and about voltage changes for such networks which have no connection to a transmission network has been supplemented. In addition, reference is made now to defined threshold values for voltage dips or voltage overshoots instead of indicating fixed data and reference values are given in the new Annex B.
